Kevin Rodger's Biography

Kevin was born in the southern Ontario city of Sarnia in May 1957.  Kevin's father was in the oil well servicing business.  Kevin has lived in many areas of Canada including Sarnia,ON; Edmonton, AB; Chatham, ON; Thunder Bay, ON; Timmins, ON; Porcupine, and South Porcupine, ON; Iroquois Falls, ON; and London, ON, where he now resides.

Kevin completed high school in Chatham.  He was active with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, 294 Squadron.  In his six years in Air Cadets, Kevin obtained both his Glider Pilot's Licence, as well as his Private Pilot Licence under scholarships.  After high school, Kevin moved to Thunder Bay to attend Confederation College's Aviation Management Program.  After graduating in 1978 with a Diploma in Aviation Management and a Commercial Pilot's Licence, Kevin obtained his Class III Instructor Rating, and soon started employment with Nighthawk Flying Club.

Kevin worked for Nighthawk Flying Club for six years (to the day), moving up the ranks to the Chief Pilot position.  In December of 1983, Kevin was hired by Austin Airways (then Canada's oldest airline).  He flew contract for seven months on the venerable deHavilland Twin Otter aircraft (while still working for Nighthawk).  While with Austin Airways, Kevin also flew the Cessna Citation Jet, Cessna 402, and the Beech 99.  In 1988, Austin Airways merged with Air Ontario, and in 2001 another merger created Canada's largest regional airline, Air Canada Jazz.  Kevin has been flying the deHavilland Dash 8 aircraft for the last 16 years based out of London, Ontario.

Kevin enjoys a passion for travel, and cycling.  He has been a member of the London Cycling Club for the past 12 years.

Kevin presently two bicycles, a Cannondale H-700 hybrid bike set up for touring, as well as a Mikado d'Iberville touring bike.  Future bikes on the menu:  a Bruce Gordon Rock n' Road touring bike, and a Bike Friday fold up touring bike.

As well as cycling extensively around the province of Ontario, Kevin has cycled the Icefields Parkway in Alberta, and Germany, England, Mexico, Bermuda, and now Austria, and the Czech Republic.
